I know the world has pretty much been taken over by ipods but for those of you who like to still travel with a couple CD's on hand, what will be blarring out of your speakers when you turn the ignition on? ...I have a Trixter CD ready to crank for my ride home from work.

Actually that brings me to a bonus question. How many of you forget to turn the volume down before you shut off your car/truck and then almost die of a heart attack when you get in and start it back up? ...I'm far too guilty of this one.

Not like I haven't said this enough, but I hope everyone has a safe and happy New Year! :)

I'm a big fan of The Doobie Bros myself....how about You?
Here's My Top 10 to get the ball rolling
1 I Cheat The Hangman
(If You never heard it, You should it's one of the most haunting songs ever recorded)
2 Tolouse Street (Another atmospheric, haunting tune)
3 Without You
4 What A Fool Believes
5 Clear As The Driven Snow
6 Long Train Running
7 Jesus Is Just Alright
8 Snake Man
9 Another Park Another Sunday
10 Black Water

As many or as few songs as You like...or fave album or whatever You like

Bonus question: were they better with Micheal McDonald or without?

A kind of "Auld Lang Syne" in your mind?

Think about this...The 1960's were a time of terrible upheaval in the United Staes, just like today. And there was a very unpopular war going on, again just like today
But in the 60's great protest and anti -war songs abounded
Today you can hear the crickets chirp
I think it's because today generation of Youth is so blinded by IPods, Cellphone and PS3's that they can't see the realities around them so therefore ain't disaffected like the 60's generation was. But that's just My theory
How about You, why do You think that no great protest or anti-war songs are being written now?

The rock music of the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and the 90s each has a specific and unique sound associated with them. With the current decade (of which, I'm not even certain what it should be called...the Oughts?), I don't get that sense. The current decade is both eclectic and synthetic, to me.

How would you personally define the music of the current decade? Happy New Year, Rock and Pop Peeps.

Quick one here do you think it’s a good idea that the newer bands are remaking some of the classics
1-dose it open the minds of the young listeners to explore the origin of the song?
2- It just messes up the beauty of the song?
For example
Korn: word up
Another brick in the wall
Godsmack: good times bad times
Marlin Manson: sweet dreams
Limp bizkit: faith
I know there are plenty more but these are few off the top of my mind
Let me know what u think

Happy New Years Everyone!

So are you making any music related New Year resolutions? Are you going to start buying more albums? Start listening more of one band? Return back to some old favorites? Learning an instrument? Delete all those Backstreet Boys and Spice Girls songs off you computer? *cough mine cough*

Mine:
1) Go back to the guitar, you can do it sarah! You can learn!
2) Get a record player and start collecting vinyls. Once I get the money.. (hahaha... that would take months)
3) Quit going on R&P at 4:42 am

Well.... I'm off to bed now, I'll respond back tomorrow (hopefully) and Good Morning since many of you will wake up in a few hours....

Happy New Year again!

Sounds like a childish question, I know. But last night I saw these guys on SNL and god, they were awful. It was the most contrived, overwrought crap I've seen in a long, long time.

If I were a kid, I'd be pretty bummed at the dearth of good bands that are out right now.

Its like punk rock never happened!

Where is the anger? Where is the rage? Where are the bands railing against the Bush administration, corporate malfeasance and other social bankruptcies?

Sorry about the rant, but I'm desperately trying to find the next Clash, the next Ramones, the next Sex Pistols.

And it just ain't happenin' ....

...your band is about to release a tribute albumn of all of your favorite rock songs from other bands.

What I want you to do is to tell me the songs you would want on your tribute albumn. You can have between 5-15 songs on your albumn. Here is my list.

1. Heaven Beside You by Alice In Chains
2. Babe I'm Gonna Leave You by Led Zeppelin
3. Lithium by Nirvana
4. One by Metallica
5. Hell's Bells by AC/DC
6. Raining Blood by Slayer
7. Closer by Nine Inch Nails
8. I Stand Alone by Godsmack

You can choose any songs you want. I just choose a lot of old bands to be featured in my albumn because I respect them the most.
