For some strange reason, the best rock music seemed to come out of the period of the mid to late 60's into the early 70's, be it the war, politics, sexual revolution, television or civil rights, our music at the time was the best there ever was and is cosistantly played on radio stations across the US today in the year 2007.....why?

Maybe it was a question you or someone else asked, or maybe it was an answer that left an impression? Or maybe it was something else, like meeting someone who shares your musical tastes? Is there something that happened this year that made your time spent in R&P worthwhile?

Here's one of mine: I asked a question a while ago about your R&P neighbors:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Av8l4.MhSIm2Fww611FKDW3ty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071205071644AAwpvm9

It was not only great to see people answer with where they are from, but to see people go back and talk to their fellow answerers...and neighbors. I thought that was awesome!

And it was great meeting all of you! I always appreciate your questions and your answers, so thank you.

Happy New Year, R&P! :)

Songs that make people at red lights stare at you like you have gone irrevocably insane.
Songs that make You shred air guitar in your chair like a madman.
Two for Me right off the top of my head are
"Metal Church" by Metal Church
&
"Raining Blood" by Slayer
Both are almost compulsive air guitar anthems

Your turn

I was just sitting here listening to Zeppelin's unrealeased "Swan Song" and just wishing they had done more with it, like add Plant Vocals but it's still a fantastic jam though.

I'm anticipating Judas Priest's new album. It's going to be their first concept album so I think it'll be quite interesting.

I hope that the Sisters of Mercy will finally release a new album next year.

I know what I'm hoping will disappear, but if I mention that band again, I'll probably rip my hair out.

You?

I was listening to "The Loop" (97.9 on your FM dial) on the way home from work today and was treated to the following "Rock Block"

Fire Woman - The Cult
Over the Mountain - Ozzy
I Stay Away - Alice in Chains

I turned it up to 11.

Need some brief escape from our own miserable existence.

Just kidding, I hope anyone's life is not too bad. But we all have songs that "take us away" or a song that you reflect on your life while it plays.

Here's a little gem I found, how about you?

I have to say I am just a bit. Yes, I will always hold Hanson, BSB, and Aqua dear to my heart...but wow. There was a lot better music in the 90s that I completely ignored.

Personally, I love his music. Sure I only have the Don't Say No album, but I think that album is pretty much perfect. People may know Billy because of The Stroke, or because he was in Guitar Hero, but there was a lot more to him that that.

Besides the hits, he had some really awesome songs. Nobody Knows is a beautiful ballad that shows that Billy could slow down too. Billy's band also rocked. My Kinda Lover and I Need You have some awesome bass parts. In my opinion Billy doesn't get nearly enough credit as he deserves. People write him off as another washed up 80's star, but the music is a lot better than all the other hair bands. Billy is leagues ahead of Winger, Warrant etc.
