Not anymore. Bands today don't do it because they've spent a fortune in paying out for repairs, replacements, and injuries. (You don't hear about them because these people are paid to keep their mouths shut or they'll get sued for the settlement back.) Everyone at one time or another has trashed a room. Marilyn Manson trashed his dressing room at a venue near me. That cost tens of thousands of dollars to fix. (I saw it. It was a complete disaster.) BUT, if you trash enough places, you can't get insurance, and without insurance, you can't tour, and since tours bring in the most money, nobody can afford to mess with their bread and butter.

This was big in the 70's and 80's bands like Led Zeppelin, Motely Crue and Aerosmith were notorios for trashing hotel rooms. I think because of the increase and law suits and the fact that touring and bands staying in hotel and being alcholic (damn, those were the good ol'days) have decreased, this doesnt happend much anymore. Rock N Roll and become tame lately. Sucks, doesnt it?

I think we've all wanted to do it and just can't afford it like they can. Aside form the possible harm to others , I don't see the harm if they make good on it.
