What do you think a teachers responsibility is towards random student locker searches without permission? I'm conducting a brief survey in my parent teacher association meeting tomorrow, any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

I hate it when this teacher thinks I'm shy. It's so annoying. One time, she came up to me after class and said "You should participate more" or something around those lines. Did this ever happen to you?
So I'm trying to be loud in the halls, talking tomy friends to show her I'm really outgoing. And I'm trying to participate more in her class. But, I'm not participating as much in other classes as much as hers. I try to, but I'm always called on BEFORE I even raise my hand. It's a pain in the neck.
Any advice or situtions that you can relate to in your life?
Thx:)

I am a class 12th gal (that makes it more embarrassing). I have a boyfriend in my class who is also the son of our principal. Unfortunately our principal came to know about our affair. He called an assembly of all students( both gals &guys ), stated the reason for assembling as to witness my punishment. He pulled me on to stage and straight away lifted the front portion of my skirt and caned me everywhere. I was made to stand skirt-lifted showing my underwear to whole school for the rest of the day. I cried my heart out that day. I was extremely embarrassed & humiliated. All our school guys watched me like that! everybody saw everything. 2 weeks past now i haven't gone to school. I too ashamed to tell my parents... somebody plz help with suggestions. Is this sexual harassment or does these kind of punishments occur often in your schools...

It seems to be affecting her both in school and at home. It stops her from even trying anything.

She makes many excuses, and avoids doing things (from school work, to work around the home).

I don't want her to have a "victim" mentality. Any suggestions?

I have a double major in History and English, plus my Secondary Teaching Certificate. I currently teach high school ap history classes, civics, and psychology. My job is very rewarding, but also very, very demanding. I pretty much from 6 am to midnight, with only a few hours to myself, and work all day on Sunday. I have helped develop several programs for my school, and the state I teach in. I'm burned out though, and am looking for a change. What careers would I be qualified for??? I am also very artistic, and love to do faux painting on walls in homes. Any suggestions???

In other countries, especially like Taiwan, I heard that they actually treat substitutes with respect. Why is it that students here treat them so badly that it may just be one of the worst jobs to have. My nephew said that when he was in middle school, his class could make male substitutes break into tears. What gives?

I know that the kids are relaxing and decompressing from all of the stress and stuff of the regular teacher, but this is ridiculous.

I have a Bio professor who loves to complicate the difficult criteria of mammalian physiology by making exams which you always have to select the most incorrect answer out of 5 choices. Some problems have partially incorrect statements but since it is MOST incorrect, you have to guess the answer basically. The average on the last exam was 9/20 and nobody out of our 300+ student class achieved a 100. The professor also loves to pick C and D answers to force the student to read a lot of the answers to determine which one is wrong. (I have a new method of starting from the middle of the question C, then go on to D, B etc to save time but it still is annoying when you get 4 Ds followed by 3Cs and no A answers the whole exam because you think you did it wrong. In addition to this he loves to use complex words of english to complicate matters for non-native students, this isnt a problem for me but I still will complain. To top things off he said that <20% might still be passing, lying to us.

That's what it is like around here. The public school system has such a lack of teachers they are hiring anyone who has a college degree no matter what they went to school for. My new boyfriend got a job teaching in middle school and he has a degree but it's in Construction management and he's teaching English and history classes which has nothing to do with teaching at all! Is it really hard to get teachers who went to school for that? Even now, the schools in the district he teaches in still needs a lot of teachers. I was going to go to school for teaching but now it's too late I'm 30 years old and if I go now I'll be too old to start a career. But is there a reason no one wants to teach anymore?

Or do they call them Sir / Ma'am / Mr / Mrs / Miss...etc?

Some people are under the impression that US school students can freely call their teachers "Bob", "Susie", "Mary" and so on, instead of calling them Sir, Ma'am, Mr. Jones, Mrs Randall, etc... Is it true?

They are the second-most paid highschool teachers in the state of Illinois, and they are complaining about their 2% raise...apparantly they want a 3.5%.

Thanks to them, I am going to have to have a shorter summer because of their dumb strike.
