What do you think a teachers responsibility is towards random student locker searches without permission? I'm conducting a brief survey in my parent teacher association meeting tomorrow, any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

most schools here in california got rid of all the lockers, except for pe room lockers. this was due to drugs, alcohol, weapons, etc. everyone lugs around back packs with / without wheels. i hope i helped. if they refuse to get rid of the lockers, i feel the principals should do the searches, with campus police, security, or another teacher.

That has nothing to do with teachers. That is the responsibility of the administration of the school.

On the other side of that, I don't believe that kids have any right to privacy when their school lockers are concerned.

Schhol Propery, search them. I have a child in school Id feel much safer if the school did regularly. With all The violance and school shooting I think it should be done regularly like more than 1 a week.

I feel that is the responsibility of administrators, not teachers!

Thats an administrative function. Teachers should not be involved in it.
