I thought of taking up a piano lesson and faithfully committing my money, time and effort until I reached grade 8, obtain a cert and graduate. I could give out part-time teaching afterwards. I do have interest in learning to play piano and I thought I could kill 2 birds with one stone.

Does anyone here teach piano lesson as part time or full time?
In anyone's opinion is this skill a good investment?

Thanks for your time for answering my question in advance.

I am struggling to complete a teaching application form. One of the questions asks:
'When students say they want their teachers to be fair, what do you think they mean?'

Is it the teachers who don't want to teach because of low salaries ? Students who don't want to learn ? Parents who don't take responsibility for their children ?

What's the real problem in American public schools ?

I am trying to find out what college is the best choice for me. I need to know what you need to major in to become a math teacher. Should I major in education or in mathematics? I'll appreciate as many details as possible. Thanks.

Hello. I've recently accepted a position to teach the first grade for next year. (Though it will be my first year teaching, I have already worked at my school as a co-teacher.) What do I need to do over the summer to start preparing for the next year's material? I have several ideas like having a summer tea party (for parent & child & teacher orientation), classroom management plan, google discussion group (for teachers), birthday presents, lesson plan, etc. Anything I'm missing and need to consider? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

For example: I had this student come in to class the other day because she was upset (she is 8 years old and I teach at an urban school). I asked her why she was so upset. She told me: "Mrs. Kat", I have had a hell of a morning and I would like to go to the back of the room to have my personal space." I, of course was not angry I guess because I was taken completely off guard. I had to turn around and laugh.... Please, teachers. Share!!
