Well that depends on what you're looking for-- are you looking for places with a high demand for teachers? Places with a certain climate? Places that pay yeahers well? Places with a high quality of life?

There is highest demand for teachers in:
Florida, Las Vagas, Arizona, Georgia, and Carolina

Class sizes in Florida are notoriously huge, so I'd avoid there if possible. I have a friend that teaches 5th grade in Florida and she has 35 kids in her class--yikes!

Vegas has decent pay and benefits, but high turnover rate. Schools and population are expanding, though.

As someone mentioned above-- no income tax in states like Nevada, Florida, Alaska, and Texas.

Areas in the northeast pay well and have good benefits, but teacher jobs are much harder to get due to declining economies and/or decreasing population:
Michigan, Upstate New York, Ohio, Pittsburgh, New Jersey
Taxes also tend to be a lot higher in these areas.

If you're looking for a teaching job, here's a good ebook that describes how to get jobs, 50 common teacher interview questions, how to build a teaching portfolio, how to write an effective resume and cover letter, and interview tips. It's http://www.iwantateachingjob.com . Maybe the book can help you.

Best of luck in your decision for a place to start your career--- and happy teaching!

It depends. If you mean salary-wise try the Northeast...New York, New England States, and PA pay well.

If you want well-behaved students who care about education, move to a section of a state that prides itself on education. Maryland has a pretty thorough curriculum in most counties, but the pay is terrible considering the cost of living.

Iowa or Wisconsin. Both seem to concentrate heavily on proper education and reward good teachers. In the small villages of each, the families see to it their children are well-behaved and there to learn.

Nevada. Hands down. Good pay, no income tax, no social security (FICA payroll) tax. Great place to live. Constitutional limit on property tax. Also, very low crime. Need I go on...

Try Maryland. But it's not "the best".
