We have a four year old going to K5 this fall and have several private and public school choices in Macon, GA. I'm interested to know what you have found to be the most important factors in choosing a school. So many choices, and so little time.

My bf and I have been interested in going to another country to teach english. What I don't understand is that I don't need any knowledge of their language or any experience. How can I teach someone english if I don't know their language? Apparently , they have a different "system". I'd really like to know what this system is before I spend $1700 on the course. And is my bf able to go if he has a criminal record for assault? If anybody has any experiences I'd really like to hear them aswell.

Almost 2 years ago, my ex-fiance and I got into a fight due to his infidelity...I went over to his house, and after a lot of yelling-he pinned me to the wall, and my reaction was to punch him-well he called the cops on me, and in the state of Texas-one party must go to jail in a domestic dispute. Since I was at his house, it was me...so now I have a Class C Family Assault Charge on my record and I am in an alternative teaching certification program to teach. Will this keep me from teaching? Do I need to give up while I still can? It's the same class as a traffic ticket but....PLEASE HELP!!!

I really want to be nice to the kids and it sincerely hurts my feelings to have to threaten or raise my voice, but the full-time teachers tell me I MUST threaten and yell.
Aren't there better ways to keep them on task?
Am I just not cut out for being a substitute?

Hi, i am currently in my last year of college where I am studying to become a high school history teacher. Right now, I am student teaching right now in Pittsburgh, PA. I will be graduating from Duquesne University in May. Anyway, I want to continue my education, but I'm not sure which direction I want to go. I was thinking maybe getting my masters in Special Ed, because my school offers a program to get that in a year.

Anyway, if I decide not to do that, I want to move to New York City and I was wondering a few things about teaching there.

First, is it hard to find a job (which areas would be the best to look)??

Second, where is the best place to live (i have some friends in the bronx and queens - what is a decent area for a decent price with not a huge travel time)??

Third, what certifications do I need? (In PA, you need to complete the Praxis - Math, Reading, Writing, and also Citizenship.

Also, any other tips you can give me?? Thanks so much!!!
