I think it is very odd that we still have tenure in the United States.

The United States is supposed to be a merit-based country.

Tenure is a communist notion.

Tenure isn't all that great. There are a few teachers in my school who don't deserve it. I had a phenomenal substitute teacher filling in last year. Now he doesn't have a job because a teacher who plays computer solitaire all day came back. The tenured teacher isn't doing his job sufficiently and a more qualified individual is out of work. Most teachers that deserve tenure do their jobs so well that they don't need it.

Tenure is a good thing. Losing tenure means good teachers loose the protection from politicians and poor administrators which can only harm children. Lets hope for the sake of the United States tenure is never lost.

good luck!!!
