I cannot take away recess or give afterschool detention for legal reasons. So far I've tried silent lunch, but the kids honestly just don't care. I don't like the idea of assigning extra homework because that would give homework an even more negative connotation than it already has. I'm tired of lecturing my students about it, and I'm tired of providing incentives to do what should already be done. I feel like today's kids perform when they know there's something in it for them, and I just don't like that. So I feel like I'm kinda stuck. Any ideas? I appreciate any sincere replies, especially from those who are actually in education.

I've just started college (4 weeks or so) and i've lost all my motivation. I want to succed as i have high ambitions and an excellent track record but at the moment i've just been spending a lot of time in bed (sleeping) and letting my work pile up. Some days i can't even get out of bed to get to college. Does anyone have any advice on how i can motivate myself so i can achieve my full potential?

I don't mean face cover but head cover. I am a bit concerned about what happened in England a few weeks ago and I think it is still in dispute. Some agree with the 'banning' policy and some other complain.

Am I the only one who thinks that education is the answer to most of America's problems. If the government would invest more money to educate its population, things would change drastically. Look at Japan, their education system is top notch and it shows. Education is an investment. While it may not be cost effective now, but in 20 years it will pay off. With smarter people we will be able to make better business decisions. We can help those in poorer neighborhoods and give them more job opportunities. We can better pay our teachers and make teaching a more competitive market. Everybody can remember at least one teacher that inspired them, and what a difference that makes. Just imagine what we could accomplish with better education.
