If she just smiled and turned around does not mean that she was pleased. Are you always the one to answer first? If so maybe you should give others a chance. Do she require you to raise your hand b4 answering? Maybe after class you should go to her and ask what was meant by her response

If she was asking someone else then you were being rude, If you are the only person who answers all the question first, you should wait for others to answer sometimes. When I was a student, I knew the answers, I was very shy, so I did not speak in class unless the question was directed only to me.
I'm an Educator and I sometimes smile, because I wonder where in the world did they get that answer from? ( smile)

It means she heard you , but you wants you to raise your hand first, and give others a chance. The smiles will quickly turn into frowns, if you don't raise your hand. Teachers have to maintain control, and one way to do that is by making kids raise their hand.

After rereading your question more carefully, I'd say she's getting a little mad at you interrupting her. Not all questions posed by the teacher require a student to answer. The fact that she turns around, is what caught my eye the second time. That means she's trying her best to ignore you, and hopefully you will stop on your own. And she's also probably getting a little mad about you interrupting her. Keep it up, and she'll soon be TELLING you what it means. Basically, it means "shut up and let ME do my job". Is that clear enough for you???

She has to teach an entire CLASS of kids, not just you.

It probably means that you are the only one paying attention. I used to substitute and it's very difficult when the kids just want to play around. You need to pay attention to what's going around and I applaud you for doing it. Perhaps the other students could take a lesson from you.
