I'm a special education major and I have to teach a lesson in class on either addition, subtraction, patterns, or anything very simple like that. It had to use edible manipulatives...anyone have any ideas? They would be greatly appreciated!

First of all... I want Texas teachers to answer because things may be different in other states, and I live in Texas.
My question is:
What are the positive and negative things about being an elementary school teacher? (Preferably 1st 2nd or maybe 3rd grade)

If you are an elementary school teacher, would you please tell me your daily tasks, techniques, teaching schedule, or things like that? Or maybe even a story of something about your job.

Thanks!

I'm a fifth grade teacher. This is my first year teaching. I need ideas on how I can get my class to work together, like in groups or teams, so that they can interact and get to know each other. I want them to feel comfortable and socialize with their fellow classmates while in class.

Hi, this is my first post. I really want to be an art teacher preferably in higher education. I have the following qualifications:

B-tec National - Art and Design - Merit
GNVQ Advanced - Art and Design - Merit
A Level - Art - A
Foundation Diploma - Art and Design - Merit
HND Creative Studies - Art and Design - Higher Pass

I have been told that I do not have the qualifications within art and design to teach at a 6th form level. Also, what kind of teaching course would I need to do? Thanks.

so i'm a junior in high school. my ap english teacher was giving people 75's on this paper, because it said in the instructions for the assignment that you had to sign the bottom of it (it was like a personal declaration thing), and if you didn't she gave you a 75. this would be okay, except there's this one student she particularly likes, so instead of giving him a 75, she gives it back to him and tells him to sign it. i'm really pissed off. that's not fair at all. i want to confront her about it, but i don't want to end up looking stupid. so i was just making sure people agree that she's wrong to do that.

I am leading a small bible study and one person continually goes on and on during sharing/commenting time. I don't want to discourage discussion but I need discussion focus! I have a few ideas but I want to use several tactics so that I can be somewhat discreet.

I am looking for the different styles and ways that handwriting is taught in primary schools and whether you think it is a good approach.
Also, any ideas on how to spice up handwriting lessons?! Especially for boys.
I am interested in how other countries teach it too.

I've been teaching for 15 years and can honestly say that I've enjoyed 14 of those years. However I've had enough, I work 12 hours a day trying to keep on top of the paper work and the bureaocracy. I still enjoy being with the children but it is a decreasing percentage of the day. So would like to know if any of you have changed career and what I could change to?
