I have done the 7302 a year ago and I am now in the stage/year 2 of the course . Now the scheme of work over the planned 60 hours is due . Then the learning journal and other forms we received have to be worked on . I have just managed to get into a teaching position at a brickwork department and so the job is new , the course is running and I do not know where to start and what is expected . Who can help or give me advice whatI badly need !

Hi, I completed the stage 1, 2 and then cert Ed (FE) recently.
Your scheme of work is the document where you plan out what you will do session to session with your group for the WHOLE COURSE, this should detail what you are going to do, and the methods or learning activities you will use to deliver the learning to the students. roughly it should contain the following:
session number(1)); Subject (cement mixing); learning activities (tutor input, handouts, worksheets, discussions); what learning needs are you meeting (theorist, activist, etc) How the teaching relates to the course objectives set out (learning objective 1).

The scheme of work is not a detailed plan, but is something that can be altered as you progress with your students, and their needs become aparent.

If you have filled someone elses shoes in your teaching post, there should already be a scheme of work in place, but if not, you should by now know how you are going to cover the course outcomes.

The learning journal is a record of your theory into practice, it logs what you have learned on the course and how you have used this in your teaching.

Keep an on-going record of the teaching sessions you are delivering, with a short evaluation on the base of your session plans (oh yes you will need to produce session plans of the 60 hours of teaching that relates to the scheme of work). This evaluation will help you to put together the summarative (end of course) evaluation of your teaching.

When you get to grips with it, it will get easier, just a note of warning - do not leave it all until the end, as you may not be able to do it all!!
Good luck!!
