Check with your sons school for the number of absences allowed. For elementary school, they are allowed a lot of unexcused absences but the school will have the absolute maximum that you can have before having to repeat whatever the current grade the child is in.

All depends on your State's school system. We live in Florida and you can't miss more than 9 days in any semester unless it's an excused absence (that's determined by the school board). Missing more than 9 days will cause the student to fail for the year.

I would suggest contacting your son's school to determine their policy.

Well, 5 days really isn't alot! If it were more they will probly call you in for a parent teacher principle conference. Plus didn't you get a handbook for the school when your child started? You should check that out. Or look the school up online casue if they ahve a website they should have the handbook online too.

A truancy officer will come visit you and determine why the child has missed so much school. If there is a legitimate reason they will let it slide but not repeatedly.

in high school, its usually 20 days and you need to repeat the course. With preschool who knows..

When I was younger and went to a catholic school they didn't hold you back for anything, "too damaging on the child". Thats great until you hit grade 8 and can't read..

At his age they will make him repeat if his performance is lacking. If he is at the level needed to go to 1st grade they will likely let him with no trouble. Same thing for a kid who has trouble if he is there every day yet cant get the fundamentals down he stays back.

There is probably a minimum number of days he has to attend or he might have to repeat the grade. Check with the school.

well they can't do much... i think theres a limited amount of skool days ur allowed to miss - like 18 or so - if he exceeds that limit, there's a possibility that he might get held back, but u dont hav to worry abt 5 days...
