High school biology, comparative anatomy. In a classroom situation, one could use the song to help kids compare present-day birds and, ummmm, dinosaurs (evolution). Or birds and other birds could be compared. What makes a robin a robin, for example and not a 'wise old owl' or an oriole or a crow or a buzzard?
Twiddley dee, Twiddley diddley dee
Twiddley dee, Twiddley diddley dee
Twiddley dee, Twiddley diddley dee
Tweet, tweet, twiddley de
He rocks in the treetops all the day long
Hoppin' and a-boppin' and a-singing this song
Every little bird, every little bee
Loves to hear the robin go tweet-tweet-tweet
Rockin' Robin, tweet, twiddley dee
Rockin' Robin, tweet, twiddley dee
Yeah go Rockin' Robin, really gonna rock tonight
Every little swallow, every chick-a-dee
Every little bird in the old oak tree
Wise old owl, big black crow
Put out their wings singing go bird go
Rockin' Robin, tweet, twiddley dee
Rockin' Robin, tweet, twiddley dee
Yeah go Rockin' Robin, really gonna rock tonight
The chief bird standing at the birdbath stand
Taught him how to do the bop and it was grand
Start goin' steady and bless my soul,
He out-bopped the buzzard and the oriole
He rocks in the treetops all the day long
Hoppin' and a-boppin' and a-singing this song
Every little bird, every little bee
Loves to hear the robin go tweet-tweet-tweet
Rockin' Robin, tweet, twiddley dee
Rockin' Robin, tweet, twiddley dee
Yeah go Rockin' Robin, really gonna rock tonight

The chief bird standing at the birdbath stand
Taught him how to do the bop and it was grand
Start goin' steady and bless my soul,
He out-bopped the buzzard and the oriole
He rocks in the treetops all the day long
Hoppin' and a-boppin' and a-singing this song

You can do many things, depending on the age group. K-3, you can do a movement exercise with them to act like birds during the chorus and move for the verses. Grade 4-5, you can talk about poetry of music and have them write new lyrics. 7-12, have them make a music viedo to fit the song. Hope this helps.
