so i'm a junior in high school. my ap english teacher was giving people 75's on this paper, because it said in the instructions for the assignment that you had to sign the bottom of it (it was like a personal declaration thing), and if you didn't she gave you a 75. this would be okay, except there's this one student she particularly likes, so instead of giving him a 75, she gives it back to him and tells him to sign it. i'm really pissed off. that's not fair at all. i want to confront her about it, but i don't want to end up looking stupid. so i was just making sure people agree that she's wrong to do that.

rules are rules, if she gave the one student the option to sign then she should give everyone the same opportunity. Got to her boss (principal) if you don't want to confront the teacher directly. You should also see if other students found this unfair-there is safety in numbers.

It does seem unfair, but one person had a good point. If this person has an IEP the teacher might legally have to do it that way. If that were the case though I personally would not have him sign in front of the rest of the class because then it does seem unfair. If you are sure it's not a special needs kind of kid (which may be the case considering it's an AP class) talk the teacher or principal logically and nicely. If you go in guns blazing they will probably ignore you and think you're overreacting. Good luck!

Definitely wrong, unless the student she told to sign has a 504 plan or IEP, then the plan or IEP may require her to help this student out. By law she cannot tell anyone else that this student is special needs or has the plan in place due to privacy laws. So go easy and be understanding that some students, although, you do not see it can have some real issues you don't need to know about.

She certainly has every right to give the 75 to people who didn't follow directions. However, it was unfair to not be consistent and give one person a second chance, but not others.

You should ask her why he was given a second chance and the rest of the class didn't get the opportunity. You just need to make sure you say it politely in a way that won't offend her, or sound accusatory. Or talk to your parents or another teacher that you trust.

It is totally wrong. I can see why you guys got a 75 however; whoever didn't sign originally should of got the same grade. That is discrimination. Sue that teacher for discrimination and emotional anguish.

Confront her and tell her it's unfair and there needs to be a level playing field - go for it kid and advise how you got on - good luck.

Well she cannot do that if she does not give every other student the same opportunity. No I do not think it is fair at all. I would defiantly talk to her about it.

Life is full of unfairness... School is only a starter...

If you have proof and evidence, report to the principal. That is what principal is for.

email the principle. actually ur teacher probably wont give a darn unless ur parents email. this is sad but true. it worked with my sisters teacher. the teacher was being unfair to my sister over and over so my mom emailed and she stopped.
