No, in our area one or other was compulsory for everybody - including the high academic acheivers.

This was the same when both myself, and my son, were at school.

I cannot speak for the whole of the UK.

definitely not. My friend was the only girl to do cdt at our school and she ended up being an interior designer for next.

the non achievers do not usually get a's and b's in these subjects.

any pupils that get the top grades in these subjects are doing well.
so it is not the subject themselves. these subjects are both academic and practical and not that easy. Want a cop out take sociology !

CDT is actually a good subject, it may be the dumping ground for non acheivers at your school but when taught properly it is useful. I dont actually know what H E is so cant say about that.

There are only four subjects in school. Maths, English, Science and Hobbies.
