Just because you have an attention deficit disorder, does not mean that schools should be separated. That is currently unconstitutional. Segregation by sex is the same as Segregating by Race. You would not be distracted in class if you were interested in what was being taught. No Interest means No Motivation, that is rule no. 1. The key word in Education is Motivation. If the teacher cannot motivate the class to learn, by making it interesting that teacher is a failure.
Wise up youngster, you are falling for some current propaganda. Girls need to be taught with Boys. Otherwise how would they ever get to know about each other. Schools today have little or no discipline. but that is another problem. How do I know? I am a Teacher of course and too many of us are taking money under false pretenses.

I attended an all girls' school for some years, and I found I did better in a coed school. School is more than just a place where young people learn facts and analyses; there is a huge social aspect that is very important. Segregating students by gender stunts social skills, I think. Grappling with puberty and learning how to perform successfully in your surroundings is part of growing up.

Contrary to what one answer said, separation according to gender is not illegal. In fact, on the recent news it was said that one school system is returning to separation by gender. The rationale is that girls do better in school learning subjects that boys often excel in like math and science.

Also contrary to what one answer said, there is evidence that this separation works. [See source.] What is lacking in these cases of gender separation is evidence that the graduating boys and girls are able to socialize well across genders when they are adults in the workplace.

Until that can be tested to show that cross gender socialization skills have not been adversely affected, I think gender separation in schools should remain on a limited, test case basis only. That is, the vast majority of schools should remain coed.

I went to a school where the ratio of boys to girls in our class was off quit a bit mostly boys. We were one of the meanest bunches that ever graduated.

The only meaner kids I ever met were the ones that attended all boys schools.

Don't know that its such a hot idea.

If you seperate students by gender, how do they learn to cope when they have to concentrate in an environment where there are members of the opposite sex? Social skills are learned at school too, and things like self-control and self-discipline. Leave the genders together!

If you're talking about all-boy and all-girl schools, they actually still exist. Colloquially, a "segregated" school would be a reference to racial segregation (traditionally black/white).
