I wonder if one could make his/her own philisophy like that of traditional schools of thought such as: pragmatism (Dewey) idealism (Froebel) and realism (Pestalozzi) ; and contemporary schools of thoughts like perrenialism (Hutching), essentialism (Conant), etc. and make him/her the proponent of it. If you were to have one what philsophy would it be?

Our public schools teach children to learn complicated esoteric mathematics and memorize specific dates from history and all kinds of other useless information, but never seem to get around to teaching children how to approach one another and be a mature responsible human being. I think public schools should be required to have a class in teaching children how to learn responsibilty, manners and empathy...Does anybody else agree with me? It seems like our country is full of air heads who have alot of technical information but have no ability to understand how to treat one another.

I'm teaching Spanish to a Chinese guy. I'm his private tutor. He's doing great, he's making a big effort, but I can't get him to pronounce the Spanish double Rs, the "rolling Rs". It seems like Chinese people can't even listen to Rs. I tried telling him, do like the lions do "GRRRAH", he goes "WAHHH". He can't seem to distinguish and R from a W. What can I do?

Do you think we should be forcing children to say the Pledge of Allegiance at school? If they don't say it while everyone else is what happens to them? What do they do?

It is Special Education and most of the students have learning disabilities. We are doing algebraic fractions with positive numbers. What can I do to help them learn and get them interested? I'd like to get them up and moving! The school is in an urban area and we have no access to computers.
