A coil refers to anything arranged in a joined sequence of concentric circles e.g- a piece of string wound around your finger, in circles or spirals.
Twist means to change the form of something by rotating one end and not the other or the two ends in opposite directons.
e.g- squeezing out water from wet clothes by twisting the cloth.

Hope that helps.

A coil is made by wrapping the material around something in a top to bottom or side to side type of motion (imagine a corkscrew with a removeable piece in the center of the coil loops) while a twist is made by rolling the two ends opposite of each other (like wringing out a piece of fabric).

If you take a piece of wire and hold one end in each hand then rotate each hand in the opposite direction (one hand clockwise the other anti-clockwise) the wire will TWIST. If you take another piece of wire and wind it round the length of a pencil it will form a COIL.

WELL A COIL HAS NO ACTUAL BEGINING OR END IE ITS CIRCULAR/CYCLIC WHILE A TWIST HAS AN END AND A BEGINING.
