I want to teach English in Japan in the future and one of the requirements is that you must be a native speaker... The thing is, I am from the Philippines (I now live in the USA) and received my first 12 years of education back there and I am currently in college here in the USA. The Philippines is not considered an English speaking country (at least in the "native language" point of view)... Our official languages are Tagalog and English and I have been educated in English my whole life. The funny thing is, all my classes back then were taught in English except for the Filipino language class and I was raised in an English speaking household so I consider myself a native speaker! So will my coming from and being educated in the Philippines stop me from getting a teaching position after I graduate from college? Thanks!

I'm undecided when it comes to my major in college. My parents, relatives, and other people constantly tell me the benefits of being a teacher and that I would love it. I'm getting lured in by the advantages of being a teacher, but I have a major problem with speaking in front of people. That's what teaching is! I would love to look into this, but I don't know if I could do it and I'm afraid it would be a mistake. Do you have any advice for me-is it possible for me to overcome my fear and earn a teaching certificate?

We are looking into moving to Colorado, and where we live in California, I hold a Master Teacher's level Child Development Permit. The teaching matrix is different for Colorado than in California, and they have something titled a "Group Leader". What kind of college units are needed to be a preschool teacher/group leader? Is there some kind of proficiency test you must take if moving from out of state? How much field experience is required? I have tried looking up info on the Colorado child services website, but it says it is under construction. Any info from current teachers/directors in Colorado would be appreciated.
