I writing a lesson plan for a college class assignment. The lesson will involve replacing the first letter of easy words to form other words. Example: sat, bat, mat, cat.

What is this an example of?

making words?
decoding?
masking?
rhyming?
letter patterns?
chunking?

any/all /something totally different?

Thanks!

Hi,
Can anyone tell me what the average starting salary is for a teacher, as well as the area (state) you live in (because I know it will vary based on cost of living)? Thanks!

Today in my summer school class, we had been working on a group projects, my group finished early, and honestly i would get a little bored and stand up, and go and talk to my friend, so my teacher got really mad, and was all "some people have the nerve.." So my group presented out project and I saved their asses cause she asked a lot of unexpected questions, and I knew the answers, so you would think I would get a good grade... Wrong! Then she accused me off talking whilst other people presented their projects... I know for a fact I ddint talk until AFTER they were done, and she says thats the reason why she took off points, leaving me with a 67 and all of the other slackers in my group with a grade range of 71- 85. SO can she do that? take off points for "bad" behavior on an academic project?

I am teaching a Holocaust Course twice a week this fall to a group of Catholic High School Seniors. I need a book that gives light to the Catholic Response to the Holocaust during WWII - without completely bashing the Church - or else the school won't let me teach the course there. Please, someone help!

I already have a B.F.A. in Illustration but after years of marketing myself I am ready for a change. I am currently expecting my first child bringing out my 'calm, family' side. I recently took an intrest in teaching (my family has been trying to get me to do this for years!) but I dont even know the first steps to take to achieve this! I know I would make a fantastic art teacher so any adivice would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

someone enlightened me on this Palestine thing .... ok, so Jews after WW2 were distributed in other countries, did they already live in Israel, or was that created after WW2 just for them? And that's why the Arabs hate them? because it was their land? I really am clueless, I apologise, I want to learn ... believe it or not, I actually went to Fitzwilliam college, Cambridge .... just not on the ball with foreign affairs!

I will have a fourth grade class next year with only about 10 students whom I know very well, if I stay in my current teaching assignment. However, there are only about 75 students PreK-5th in our school and it will most likely be closed within the next couple of years. There are 2 positions available at another school that I can most likely easily move to but the children there are very poorly behaved and I would have a minimum of 27 students. If I move, however, I will have greater job security since I can be shuffled to any available position in the district when the small school closes. Both schools have a great staff as well which further complicates my decision. What would you do in this situation?

Specifics would be very helpful. I'm in the process of putting together a curriculum support website K - 12.

What are the top things you look for (ie. units, activities, subject areas, classroom management strategies that target specific needs, aid for dealing with challenging students, etc.)

Other useful info: how long have you been teaching? Public or private? How many kids/classes? What city/state?

Thanks for helping!

I'm an elementary teacher with licensure for K-6 and gifted K-12. I want to further my options within the field. I have the opportunity to take over a position as media specialist at another elementary school. In taking this I will have to get my master's in library science. My other option is to stay with elementary another year and get my national board certification, and in another year start a master's in reading education. I'm really torn between the two and need to give an answer to the superintendent of human resources within the next couple of days. What would you do?

This is a somewhat serious (but fun) question. It has to be a schedule that would allow for adequate teaching time, but make the most of what you , as a person, would like in the schedule. Some people erroneously believe that children have summers off for olden days harvest. Would you change this and how? Or not, why?

I recently resided in Asia and teaching English here. Got lots of criticism and troubles about my Canadian accent. For example, will you put the stress on the 1st syllable for MIS~chievous? Or will you say "Have a good rest!" to your students before you call it for a day? That's totally bizarre for me!
