I am a 30yr old woman wanting to teach at primary level KS1 or lower KS2. I have a 2:1 degree in European Studies and German. I do not live near to a provider of PGCE so it would be difficult for me to attend a course. I have heard about GTP and SCITT courses, any info would be of help on these. How to apply? Where to apply to?

I love the idea od a Socratic forum where we ask students (forcing them to think) instead of always giving them answers (forcing them to remember).. What do you think? Would a perfect combo works best? is this best only for higher education?

I saw this advertisment in a website to work in Japan as an English teacher and you don't need any teaching experince. I like to go their as a changellle, to see the country and improve my english & teaching abality. But to apply for the job they ask all applications must be accompanied by a covering letter stating your interest in a.) going to Japan & b.) becoming a conversational English Instructor in order to be considered.

I am not sure what to write. Can someone help please... atleast get a start on writing a cover letter

i keep seeing websites that advertise teaching abroad in alot of countries but most of them say that you do independent work. does that mean that you have to find someone to teach or get a job on your own? also, the pay doesnt seem very high...im not expecting it to be but is it enough to pay for rent somewhere and still have enough money for food?

would this kind of job be a good idea for a recently graduated master's student who loves to travel?? would this be a good start for a possible relocation to another country?

It's simple. While I enjoy teaching, I'm starting to really feel burned out ...badly. In my disctrict, we've stopped "teaching" and instead are merely prepping kids for their annual state-based minimum competency test (TAKS, in Texas). This is just knocking the wind right out of my sails...the kids are getting ripped-off (and don't know it, of course) and the work load and stress levels for teachers are becoming insane.

Any ideas how I can recharge my batteries, or get a fresh perspective on this? How many of you have had to, or are also going though, the same thing in your schools? (Where do you teach?)

Thanks, in advance!

Children in my sons class were fooling around and my son accidentally fell against another lad..who said it wasn't my sons fault..The teacher walked up to my son and said " You have brought the back end of Hull with you (We use to live there) and its about time you learnt to read, you are thick" ..this has been verified by another student as truth..

Is readability the same as reading level?

I am looing at the book "Hop on Pop" by Dr. Suess

I see through a catalog that the Reading Level is 1.5. The Interest Level is Pre-School - 2nd grade, the Guided Reading level is J, and the Lexile Level is 110 (Which I don't understnd the exact rating of the Guided Reading level or Lexile)...

but my question again is... is readability the same as reading level?

And if not.. what IS considering the "readability" of a book?
