A good education is the ticket to a better life. I know. I used to be a single mother on welfare. I could not afford the cost of day care for my two children if I worked full time. So I finished college and got my teaching credential. Just finished my 16th year teaching high school history.

There must be accountability for education among all stakeholders, not just teachers. Parents and students also need to be held accountable for progress in learning. Also instruction must be rigorous and relevant, not always measurable by standardized tests.
