no, violence teaches nothing but fear. how do you enforce a no bullying policy if you teachers are abusing the children. to much child abuse exists in the world, why would you want to add to it, especially in our school system, where our children are suppose to be safe?

I disagree. It is lack of education and lack of tolerance that lead to a physical aggression to children who don't fall under the normality. We need to remember that each child is different. That each child has different needs because they have different background and different learning styles. If we were to physically punish a student, then all the student who have some type of learning disability would be the ones who would take most of the abuse. I don't thinks that's right.

actually i agree with u. if we flash back to 20 years ago which at this time the coporal punishment was implement, the pupils in the school were behaving better. even their achivement were better. they respect their teacher and make them as arole model. even they respect their parents more. as we know most of the famous leader and success people now were brought up with this system before. however most of the youngster nowdays who are brought up with pamper, mostly are looser. sorry, but this is a fact.

Nope....violence breeds violence. There are better ways to handle children. What we need is structure and teachers and administrators who will follow through with their discipline and not back down because the parent is throwing a fit. There needs to be clear "IF and THEN" statements made. "IF" you hit this other child "THEN" ________ will happen. It needs to progress if the behavior does and it needs to be consistant and yet fair. I will not ever strike a child in the name of discipline, regardless of what the schools say. So, if it comes back, and I'm required to do this, I will find another job.

I was assaulted in class and the only punishment he got was to go home for a day.WHOOPEEEE ! ! ! !

I agree because if that is how you get control then do it. We do not trust our school
to educate our children and keep them safe..
Example..columbine high school.

Yes. We had it when I was in school. I don't recall anyone being traumatized by it. And there was not the rampant disrespect for authority in school that we see today.

No. Anyone who beats a child for whatever reason is a fool, teaching violence as a means to assert their will.
