Typically a bachelor's degree requires 120 semester hours; you will get credit for 60 of them with an Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree. However, this does not apply if you earn an Associate in Science (A.S.) degree or an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree.

Secondly, writing and grammar are windows into one's academic soul, and it appears that you need to do some extra work in this area. It is very important that you do this because your education professors will not pass you otherwise; it reflects poorly upon them when their students do not perform well as teachers.

The requirements for teacher certification vary from state to state, so you could check with the Office of the Superintendent for your state to get the exact requirements.

For example, at the community college where I teach, we have plenty of students who are going for a 2 year degree in ECE (Early Childhood Education). This gives them the necessary credentials to teach things like pre-school and kindergarten.

However, if you want to teach elementary, middle, and/or high school, you'll most likely need a Bachelor's (4 year) degree.
