I am a special education coordinator and I am wondering how other special education teachers and general ed teachers assess their students with disabilities? Do you use running records, student portfolios, etc? Do you use any particular websites or programs that assess your kids? Any answer will be greatly appreciated!

Hi.I live in Iran and I'm 18.I've translated these Iranian pop songs by myself..This singer's albums were chosen as the best pop music for the best and the most meaningful lyrics and the best melody in Europe.It's somehow similar to the "believe" album by Cher.If you like to listen to them just e-mail me and I'll send them to you in no time.Cos I'd sent them to 26 of my friends all around the world so far and I don't need to attach them again.They all loved them.And I'll be glad if you could correct my translations for me.Please see if you can use even more poetic sentences, if anything interesting comes to your mind.Thanks for any help.

First:(mahboobeye shab)
when the night steps in the gardens, the flowers cannot breathe
when the darkness rains (comes down) from the sky, the blooms become sad
when the darkness doesn't allow the flowers to breathe, the "love flower" stays awake at night
she (the love flower) doesn't allow the night to have any effects on her, her smell can be felt even at the other side of the gardens
if (someone) puts the love flower in a vase, and plants thistles all around her
(even) if (someone) walls up all around her body (existence), (even) if everyone accuses all of her fibers
(even with all these difficulties) the smell of the love flower makes its way to the beyond of all the stone walls

I kissed your memory again, I've asked myself this unanswerable question thousands of times so far:
What makes the songs lifelike?
Its pulse is the throat of yesterday (It means my throat could produce a better voice in the past, so my songs were liflike)
I know that without you, my tomorrow will be the same grey color as yesterday's (grey color)
I'm thirsty like the sun and more landless than the wind, more immediate than the song, outspoken like a loud cry
I'm lonelier than silence, brighter than the star, I love more than ever, sing with me again
I open the eyelids of the window, there are murmers of the moon light in the lane
All the windows are silent, sounds like (everyone in) this deserted lane is asleep
I call out your name aloud noiselessly, my crying closes the window
Once again, the invisible hands of night closes the eyelids of my window

I have a child who needs specialised teaching to meet his significant social interacion and communicaion skills but the LEA is making so difficult and while they are pushing pens my childs education deteriorating its so unfair. We were told this would be possible without a statement under special circumstances but my child has been let down again and attends part time for 2 days in mainstream with minimum support and is struggling like hell but the LEA does not give a damn.(it takes a minimum of 6 months to get a statement) Can anyone explain WHY???!!! Tony Blair says "Every child matters" and "education, education,education" but when it comes to kids who are very bright academically but have specific Special Educational Needs no one cares!!! HELP!!!

I am a teacher and have worked with many autistic children. I have been a teacher for 26 years and never have I seen so many autistic children or so many children who are taking medication for their ADD, ADHD, ODD and other behavior problems. When I started teaching in the early 1980's there were no children with any of these problems! I teach a class of 23 children and 9 are on some sort of meds and 2 are autistic.

. He has no interests in anything except playing video games, watching TV and going on the computer. He doesn't do his homework and resists any help offered by me or my husband. He has been getting in trouble at school and has used pot. He hangs out with a similar group of kids and I'm afraid that things are only going to get worse. His schoolwork is done poorly and he doesn't seem to care about getting decent grades. He is on several medications including Adderall. Does anyone have any suggestions on residential treatment programs, wilderness or summer programs that could help get his life back on track? Personal experience would be greatly appreciated. Both my husband and I are college-trained professionals. I'm not too sure right now if my son will even graduate from high school. HELP!

The teacher my niece has for 1st grade has said that my sister kid is struggling with the 1st grade curclium and now they are trying this other thing to have her work in a group with a adult that helps her 3 times a week. If this doesn't work, what will happen , she has no progress this school year and she behind in school, what you think about this and what help should someone ask for my niece to get, and what do you think the teacher will do if this doesn't work? She is 7 years old. Could there be any problems or something like special needs and the teacher hasn't called my niece mom in for a conference yet.

Like for instance; a student is having trouble in Algebra 2 in high school and they are in a regular class. And the school decides to put that student in a resource class which means special education class. When they were in a regular class, they were doing alot of hard work, but when they were put in a resource class all they teach them first grade math, now why is that? Howcome they dont teach like a regular class? Why they do that, because the students are in a resource class doesnt learn anything and they struggle in life. NOW THAT'S ASHAME.

Okay I go to special edd private school. All the other kids have criminal records besides me. I just have extreme temperment probs but after outbursts i automatically know things could of been dealt with better. I have been going to this school sense june of last year. I have been putting up with these kids crap for a long time. Yesterday i comepletely lost it because this punk called me a ugly whore. I comepletely went balistic and told him why don't u come say that to my face. He ran like alittle beezy meaning bitc* when i comfronted him on it. He was with hiss group of punk as* freinds when he said it but he didn't have the ball$ COME AND SAY THAT TO MY FACE. I am happy cus finnaly my mom is goin to remove me from that school. Shes a bus driver at my school. PS i was provoked.
