The state of the art for instruction for Asperger's kids is one on one for four hours a day for five days. Have any of you been able to achieve that for your child? If so, could you give me some arguing points?

What do you think in the the state of Texas regarding the shift of special education students having to take TAKS-I versus SDAA-II beginning next school year in reading and math... do you think it will have any significant impact or will the move in testing actually help our special needs students achieve the goals of NCLB?

My 7-year old little brother does not speak. We have a big age difference (for those of you who are wondering). He does not want to learn anything. Lately, he doesn't even want to wake up to go to school. We literally have to drag him. What can we do? He's currently in a Special Education class with 2-3 speech therapy sessions per week (half hour each) but we don't see any improvements. Mom is frustrated and screams all the time. We are desperate. This situation is making everyone's life unbearable. Does anyone know of a good program/teacher in Southern CA (Los Angeles/Orange County) that can help him with his speech and make a difference with his condition? If you have any friends that have kids with similar problems, please help.

I went to school to become a special ed teacher, but did that for two years and recently resigned from my position. I still want to work with individuals (preferably children/teens) with disabilities, but not in a school setting. I used to work for a special rec assosiation, but want something full time and can't find any full time positions available in my area. I would be really interested in doing event planning, program coordination, inclusion facilitation, etc. Does anyone know of any resources I can use to help me find available positions in this area of work? I live near Chicago. Are there any national agencies that I should try? I tried Best Buddies, but they didn't have anything, and I'm not that familiar with others. Please help, I'm excited to start a new job but can't seem to locate the type of position I am looking for.

I am taking an online class called Education of the Exceptional Child and we have to do an interview with a parent of a child with a disability, but I do not know of anyone. Will you please give the info. Preferably if you are from Missouri, but if not, then at least from the U.S. Thanks....
