Special Education

According to my Teaching Reading class, phonics is very important for teaching students to read. A large part of the class focused on the importance of students understanding that words were a combination of letters, which represented sounds.

As a future special education teacher, it is possible that I will be responsible for teaching students who are Deaf or Hearing Impaired to read. I am just wondering how the process would differ for this population, as they are unable to hear the phonetic link. Clearly they are capable of learning, but how would a teacher best facilitate this skill?

I'm a high school student and I have to take a course, which for me is basically a study hall but still falls under the catagory of special ed. The reason I have to do this is because of an anxiety disorder (NOT LD). I'm a straight A student who takes honors and AP courses in every subject I possibly can. Am I even going to have a chance at competitive colleges?

Will college admission officers hold it against them that they were in special ed rather than regular class?
Special ed is usually a watered down curriculum that
passes these LD kids along without mastering their skills.
It does nothing but fails to prepare them for what is expected of them down the road.

My Son’s Teacher is use turret syndrome as a joke
Stating my son shows signs of it in class and tells him this in front of everyone.
What can I do about a teacher that makes fun of disabilities even if he dose not have it
And yes I have it on tape I compliand and now he told me my son will get it more. - he even stated that his opinion is better than facts
