Special Education

I am in Special Ed. I just found out that my school wont allow me to go on my senior weekend trip because I take medication and their is a rule that students can have on hand controlled substances and there is no body to administor the meds to me. I want to fight this. What should I do?

PS. The trip is 2 weeks away and they just told me this now

I'm really having a lot of problems with the school system since I moved to Colrado Springs, CO. I found out that he is sposed to be helping my daughter and he/she really hasn't did anything. He/she doesn't return my call. He/she told me I'm doing better than most parents,(really sad)I found out that the school messed up on my daughters paperwork, saying she doesn't have delays in certain areas and she does. How can I find another parent advovate in Colorado Springs. I need one who know the laws, how to protect my daughter rights and is not afraid to speaks up to the school! I feel like my daughter has been cheated

My daugher had 20-25% delay in all areas at age 3 and 11 months, the state we lived in did a wonderful job helping her with full day pre-k and help is all the areas. We moved to a different state and they redid the IEP and took away some for her sp ed, she still has speech, help with her hands, behavior help, an aid , social help.She goes to school 2 hs and 40-50 mins and they refuse to give her a full day of K. The problem is they took away her emotional help, they said she didn't have an emotional delay anymore.The social worker did the EMOTIONAL delay part, he didn't show up at the meeting. Since, I'm trying to figure out what is wrong with my daughter and the dept above the school has been worthless. I took my daughter to a child psychiatyist with PHD. to figure out what is wrong with her, I brought along the iep and DR told me my daughter does have an emotional delay and s.worker is wrong and full of crap. I've an parent advocate, now what

Because of his inability to be still and focus he is quickley falling behind in his learning process. Learning ABC`s and colors . What can I do to try get him ready and able to start kindergarden with his age group. I don`t believe (unless totaly necessary) to hold him back a year . I don`t want to teach him to live as if he has a dissability because he tends to be a very smart boy. I need ways to catch his attention to learn these things. once I have his interest he will learn but getting his interest is the problem.

Okay, my 10 year old son has attention problems in school/home. Just enough to where he has difficulties with staying on task in school but NO extreme behaviors,so on. On the Vineland Adaptive Behavior test the special ed teacher and class teacher put him at an 2.1 year old in receptive communication, 5.0 year old for domestic living and 6.10 year old for interpersonal skills. I had marked him as age appropriate levels across the board. Trust me I answered honestly. I'm the first one to say something is wrong. The only detentions hes gotten in school is from not being able to finsh his class work. What behaviors would he have in school to get those scores? Wouldn't some be very extreme? I am almost thinking that instead of saying we are having a hard time teaching your son they came up with behavior problems. With those scores what would he be like? How does each grouping interact with the other?

My 10 year old son had an IEP evaluaton/update this past week and when they did the adaptive behavior portion of the eval the teacher had put him at 2years and 1month age for his recptive behavior. Is this even possible? I tried looking up receptive behavior online and couldn't get a good explanation.

By law, I qualify under the americans with disabilities act. I asked the faculty member who is on staff in the math lab to help people with learning disabilities for help, I asked if she could explain a type of problem to me. Her response was "you just want me to give you the answers" and not when you wait till the last minute. I didn't wait until the last minute I was working on the last skills test over a week before they all had to be done. I had asked for help with math in the accessibilities office before that and the same lady refused to help me. What options do I have, or do I have any options I don't want the lady to lose her job I just don't want anyone else that needs extra help refused it by her like I was. Its a good thing I found an instructor that helped me so well other wise i would have been out of luck.
