For example, someone against different colors would be racist, or different sexes be sexist, what about mentally retarded.

MY SON IS IN SPECIAL EDUCATION AND HE ALSO HAS ADHD. HIS TEACHER OBVIOUSLY DOES NOT UNDERSTAND THE SYMPTOMS CHILDREN WITH ADHD EXHIBIT. SHE PUNISHES HIM FOR NOT UNDERSTANDING ASSIGNMENTS AND WILL NOT ALLOW HIM AMPLE TIME TO CATCH ON, HER THEORY IS TO KEEP THE BALL ROLLING. EVERYONE KNOWS THAT IN A (S.E.) CLASS EACH CHILD WILL BE ON A DIFFERENT LEVEL, ALL STUDENTS DO THE SAME WORK NO MATTER WHAT LEVEL THEY ARE ON AND SHE CONTINUALLY SENDS HOME WORK WAY BEYOND HIS GRASPS AND AS A RESULT HIS GRADES ARE TERRIBLE. SHE COMPLAINS ABOUT HIS FIDGETING AND HE ALSO HAS A PROBLEM WITH DROOLING WHICH SHE ALSO COMPLAINS ABOUT. SHE DOESNT ALLOW HIM TO ATTEND FIELD TRIPS UNLESS I CHAPERONE HIM WHICH I CANT ALWAYS DO DUE TO WORK, SO HE MISSES OUT SOMETIMES AND HIS FEELINGS ARE CRUSHED. I HAVE A PRESCHOOLER IN THE SAME SCHOOL AND HIS TEACHER HAS REPORTED TO ME THAT SHES NEVER IN THE CLASS AND GOSSIPS ABOUT MY CHILD WITH COWORKERS. I TOLD THE PRINCIPAL AND GOT NO RESULTS. WHAT SHOULD I DO? PLEASE HELP

Are you concerned about whether he/she will be able to
graduate from High school? Do you worry about whether
he/she will be able to go to college.
Do you feel the school is doing a good job of helping
your child?

Time is an equal opportunity employer. Each human being has exactly the same number of hours and minutes every day.

Rich people can't buy more time. Scientists can't invent new minutes. And you can't save time to spend on another day.

Even so, time is amazingly fair and forgiving. No matter how much time you've wasted in the past, you still have an entire tomorrow.

Success depends upon using it wisely -- by planning and setting priorities. Time is worth more than money, and by killing time, we are killing our own chances of success.

Please don't let time slip away. And please don't even let it inch away, but really make the most of it. When you go on a trip, you can often remember each day in detail because you valued each minute away and planned it well. But all too often, when you are at home, school or work, it just seems to go by without realizing it. So ask youself, "What did I do last week?" If you can't answer, you might be letting the sands of the hourglass fa

I'm aquantances with a mentally challanged guy. He's not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer, but then he's not totally 'fried' or whatever you want to call it.

He mutilates himself, mostly with knives, drinks heavily, I think he smokes pot sometimes which is probably the only reason he's in special ed, and he also continuously threatens suicide, threatens to shoot up the school and has held a knife to his step dads throat.

I think over all, the guy is just mentally unstable. But legally, he is considered mentally challanged/retarded, but last a few weeks ago, he just started going on and on about him wanting his girlfriend (which is also considered mentally challanged) to have his baby, and he's 17, just got his first job, which is minimum wage, and it doesn't look like he's graduating soon.

I hate to say it, because I'm normally understanding of differences, but I really don't like the idea of people considered mentally challanged having kids. What is your opinion?

I have a 3 Year Old Son who is diagnosed with Autism, and here in MA where we live, he is enrolled in the Public Schools 5 Day a week PreK, attending 2 Full Days, and 3 Half Days. He receives ABA, OT, Speech, PT, and APE. He is Part of an Inclusion Program, and attends School Part of the Time in the Severe Special Needs Room, and the other Part of the Time in with Moderate Special Needs to Model Children. The Teacher to Student ratio is good, especially on his Full Days, when it is 1:1. The problem is we cannot afford nor do we really want to live in Massachusetts. We would really like to buy land somewhere, perhaps in North Carolina or even out West in Idaho, but we don't want to do the wrong thing. He does have an IEP, which means wherever we move they have to provide similar services, but I was hoping people who have Autistic Children from other parts of the country could share their experiences. I'd really love to know what State has the best Services for these kids!
