Can anyone suggest any books or papers that would give a good introduction and/or background to SEN (proeferably in relation to the UK)

www.nasen.org.uk
The UK's national association for SEN

www.sebda.org
for people working with kids with emotional & behavioural difficulties

Both of these sites should have links on them and both publish journals on SEN related topics.

That's a very broad topic, you will need to narrow it down. Are you interested in teaching, or is there a particular disability you want information on, etc...

The best place to start, would probably be to go to the campus bookstore that is closest to you. If there is not one, you might go to Amazon.com and type in your topic, but be more specific if you can (i.e. Introduction to students with special needs, or, individuals with mental retardation, ....).

Good luck!
