If its something you can read, do so just before you go to bed. It'll be the last thing on your mind and more likely to go into long-term memory storage and therefore more easily recalled later. No method is a 100% sure bet, but that one is especially useful if you are anticipating a test in school or use of that information in a work situation within a short period.

I find that pattern recognition works for me. If you can relate new information to information you already know it is easier to remember. An example is I remember locker combinations by relating the numbers to pro athletes jersey numbers (20-36-5 I would remeber as Dawkins, Westbrook, McNabb).
Hope this helps

Write it down. Record it audibly. Take a picture or capture it via a camcorder. Make some form of record so you can go back and look at whatever it is later.

I have found that if I ask someone to remind me to do something or to get something, whatever, I always remember because I am waiting to see if the person I asked to remind me will remember to do it!!So I automatically remember what it was I wanted to do!!

Flash Cards!!!! with not so much writing and perhaps a little picture to keep in your mind that relates to the writing. Good luck.
But then again it depends on what type of learner you are.

I was told to speak out loud the information that you want to remember. Then say it again in your head. This seems to work for me.

For me it's writing things down even if I don't look at what I wrote down I'll still remember.
