Repetition is actually the least effective way. In order to learn the best way is to link the information to something you know already.
Think of a connection to a word, a place, or anything that may help bring the info back. For instance, if you are learning Spanish and you needed to know the word for table, the word is mesa, in English you might know mesa is a flat topped hill that looks like a table. Any thing ,no matter how silly it seems, can help to make that connection and that's all you want.
Teaching what you know also helps to reinforce what you have learned that's why teachers sometimes have student do presentations.
Of course some things require repetition such as the times tables but it is still the least effective way.

I think everyone is different: I'm a visual learner and learn best by seeing something or reading something. My dh is an auditory learner and learns best by hearing something, hearing a lecture or listening to something on tape, etc. Kinesthetic learners learn best by doing hands-on activities.
If you are teaching a classroom, you should probably teach each lesson as much as possible so that all 3 learners can learn in their preferred learning style. So for example: a lecture or presentation combined with visuals (graphics or charts or pictures) and a hands-on activity to complete the lesson.

The theory of multiple intelligences suggests that every person learns best in different ways. Some learn best by reading, some by writing things in their own words, some by doing projects, and some by hearing. Here is a website that can explain this theory better: http://www.infed.org/thinkers/gardner.htm

You wont' believe this, but when I would study the Rock music was blasting on my stereo. I study with noise in my surroundings
because I'm hyper anyway.
When I have to Read a book and study, I read the book, but don;t study what I read. I just read it and then when I read the questions I can answer them.
Speed reading is a favorite of mine.
Then comes the IQ test to see how the standings are with me and the score is 140.
Everyone is different.

Its is feasible, however an inherent quandary with finding out a language entirely to your possess is finding out it incorrectly. This can take place itself for your pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary ... and it is rather difficult to right as soon as you may have imbedded the language incorrectly for your head. This is not to mention it's not possible ... I've met humans who've best studied languages out of books and will talk close natively in a international language, however that is the severe exception ... no longer the guideline. In my enjoy (I can talk 6 languages) I've spotted people who research on their possess have a tendency to have countless evident flaws of their fluency. The high-quality approach to cross is to reside in which the language you wish to talk is spoken certainly. Granted, this isn't continually feasible most commonly, however it would be as realistic as simply staying round a pair Lithuanians and being attentive to them speak. I've recognized humans who've studied French for eight+ years in top institution and school and also have terrible pronunciation, and make common grammar errors ... without problems finding out a language for decades does no longer always same talent in a local atmosphere. I've had the equal enjoy with people who have studied Spanish, Portuguese, and Swedish for a few years ... they "knew" the language however could not fairly talk it fluidly. I do not wish to deter you from finding out Lithuanian to your possess, however I must warning you to the pitfalls of doing so. It is entirely feasible you could have a ordinary flair towards Lithuanian, and it would possibly not be a quandary, however I'd estimate the probabilities of that taking place being tremendously not likely. Even in case you have found out different languages finding out a brand new language remains to be a task ...

That depends completely on the individual. For example, I am a visual learner, so I learn best when the instructor uses power points, posters, or other visual aides.

for me I lean by using workbooks that my mom buys at the parent teacher store. I also watch the Discovery Channel and the History Channel. but that is just my way. I know there are others ways to learn too.

Repitition AND....
I found that making up a little story about facts was helpful.
We even found a way to remember which elements were more electronegative by relating them to people or ideas familiar to us.
And I still remember because of that.
