Social intelligence helps people make friends and allows each (all) people involved to be comfortable with each other's company, conversations, etc. Socially inept people are usually unaware that they are socially inept, but those to whom they try to interact with are sometimes painfully aware - awkward silences, embarrassing situations, strained conversations, etc. will result.

somehow u got diverted to here?
most of the educators are looking for little loop hole instead of identifying how these are occurring but rather how they too can manipulate the situation also. having been a victim both way i question all who are paid to do their thing on people who are no wiser by the coercive actions to control others. social intelligence has to be established as how the situation could have fallen to this low of a victumchild that has no way out to start with. many children are a crime that has no conviction and as will be punished so they will be walled into a frame of mind that seeks no revenge for the imprisoned chaos they have to live by being born at the wrong place to the wrong people at the wrong time, i was center punched by a 300 pounder when i was six and i still need many operations and there never was confrontation after i grew up and was seeking revenge for being left for dead and deaf for life i was only six and the world is no better today with the Latinos coming for anything that isn't tied down in America

Social intelligence can be more important than "traditional" intelligence in accomplishing one's goals.
Someone who is tone-deaf to the subtleties of communication can run into brick walls, no matter how smart he is. Someone who isn't that bright but who can connect with people will probably accomplish more.

Someone who communicates with his or her surroundings.. Not necessarily one who is smart but knows how to act in a small gathering. Who has the forthsight to make a small conversation.
