My son is in the 7th grade and is having alot of problems with spelling. I transferred him from the public school to a catholic school - because he was falling between the cracks and now he is behind. I'd like to help him study and find resources to help him. If anyone has any suggestions or places to look - I'd appreciate any help. Thanks

I have a section test and it turns out I got the answer wrong. When I asked why it was wrong and stated that I thought otherwise becuase of a rule I was taught that I'll explain my teacher looked it up in all of the books he has that may have contained the answer and he couldn't find it anywhere. The problem is this
"Ginny and They/Them laugh at Kevin"
The correct answer was Them and I had answered they becuase I thought it would be if you took ginny out of the whole process it would be "They laugh at Kevin". Apparently, no. I'm asking if you know and please if you do explain it. I'm at school and can't use my email account so email me at

Thank you so much for your help,

compulsory attendence laws were put into place?

During colonial times most communities had laws that generally said that parents must provide an education to their children sufficent to allow them to function independently as adults. There were however no laws that compelled parents to send their children to schools and no government funded schools. By the end of the colonial period, the residents of the English owned American Colonies were the best educated people in the world. John adams once commented that (in modern terms) you only found an American adult who could not read and understand the bible once in a blue moon. After the United States was formed this trend continued until about the time of the civil war.

The First public schools were formed in the late 1840's and early 1850's. The first compulsory attendence law was implemented in Maryland in 1852. By 1929 every state had some form of cumpolsory attendance law. Continued...

Do you enjoy school? And what level of classes do you take (difficulty). I take the hardest of every class, and like school as a way to see a lot of people at one time, but sometimes, the assignments just get ridiculous.

my son was expelled from school 2 and a half days before the summer holidays started.surely we are entitled to 24 hrs notice so at least we can make arrangements.we went back to the school today for a meeting and basically got told that we (as parents)are encouraging our son to lie and that until we are 100% behind the school he will not be allowed to return,we are behind the school as if any expeltion is needed then so be it all we ask for is 24 hrs notice so that we can then make arrangements.am i the only one out there with this problem.oh yeah my son is 15 and leaves school next year.

If they can only go up the next level on their teacher's recommendation, would it encourage them to behave?
They'd be leaving behind their friends. I do believe that kids today rely too heavily on their peer's opinions. If they were thus threatened with this humiliation wouldn't it encourage them to behave?
