As a freshmen in uni, what's the pros and cons to choose self-catering and meal plan accommodation? If I live in a standard room and share kitchen with othes, shall I wait for long to cook my food?

Do you know of any good career guide books for students in college?
I'm looking for books that sort of assess your strengths and weaknesses and match you to your perfect job(s), as well as give comprehensive information about the job(s).

Hoping to give this to my sister who is undecided on her major in college and doesn't really know what she wants to be after she finishes her university education.

Thank you =)

I'm thinking about going back to school to get a doctorate in linguistics. Can anyone tell me what I should expect as far as a PhD program goes? Also, I'm curious about my dissertation. How will I go about the research? And most importantly what should I write about? Am I assigned a topic? How long should I expect to be in school if my BA is completely unrelated to linguistics? I'd appreciate any input you all have. Thank you.

I want to know what courses in high school you would have to take, what degrees you need to get into college, and what degrees you need to graduate from college. It would be nice if it was to MSU's qualifications - I'd look through the website but it's poorly constructed. I need this information for a project we're doing in gifted - my teacher is clueless himself as to how to get this information and was surprised the website of such a great school is so poorly done. Thank you!

I'm paying my own way through college and have always worked. I don't take time for luxuries like summer vacation or spring break.

How is it that the vast majority of college students (it seems) don't hold a job and still go on spring break? Rich parents, irresponsible debt, credit cards, savings?

Legislators and the public have a hard time being worried about college costs when so many students spend reckless money, no?

I always wanted to go to harvard and I know that you have to do verry well in high school. I work really hard and try to do my best in everything, but I end up getting bad results like b's and low a's. And I allso know that you have to do sat and other type of tests. The only problem is that I'm esl, and I'm not that good in english. Do you think I have a chance to get in if I try harder to do well in everything? if you allready is in harvard tell me how you got in, please?

I am doing pretty good in school but I do not know if I should just keep studying or go to SF STAte where they will accept me even if i get straight Cs for the rest of junior year.

for senior year I want to take

but thats only for UCB, should I take those and kill myself or just take 4 classes being

Someone at work sent me this article. Apparently, schools (including college admission offices) are cruising students' myspace pages. I didn't get the whole story...but, apparently a hs student of an acquaintance who was originally admitted to a SoCal school and then was later denied because of music demeaning to women on his myspace page!

Some kids have been denied entry to college because of images/language/etc. that is on their myspace pages. Have you heard of this?

I am a light sleeper, and I have tried to get used to people talking or typing when I am sleeping, but I can't. The people on my floor yell and run up and down the hall. I have a fan that I put on high, but it can't drown them out. I tried earplugs too but for some reason they hurt my ears....
