This is new to me. I have heard of college students applying for jobs, and the companys looking at they Facebook and Myspace pages. I actually have a friend whose job is to do this at his place of work. I think it's a good thing. If people want to put their information out for all to see, it's only fair for people to get to see who they really hiring or letting into their schools.

Never heard of it, but it wouldn't surprise me. Work places do it, so I can see college admissions boards doing it as well.
After all, the people who run colleges don't like being known as a party school or the hangout of immature brats. Particularly the more prestigious ones. Not every school can afford to interview every applicant they get, so a quick myspace or yahoo search of the name is a cheap and effective way to see if a kid has any skeletons that he's choosing to show to the world.
If you want to brag about that stuff, fine. Just don't expect everyone to agree with it.

Good. I'm sick of hearing all of the lame stuff on people's myspace pages, and of them brag about all the stupid things they do. I guess if this is true they will realize that the things they do in life have consequences.

Yes, I've heard of it, and no, it doesn't surprize me. If someone is stupid enough to put their REAL name on a myspace page, they kind of deserve whatever happens to them, including having a college admission withdrawn.

Nobody has time to check people out. It's a business entity, students who can pay bring in revenues. If you have a quota you simply screen out the bottom dumb ones, or poor ones who won't be able to afford to pay.

Some jobs are searching MySpace as well. Just goes to show you have to be real even in cyber space.
I am who I am...if you don't like it...too bad for you!
That is my motto!

Well, it shows the personal side of students, but its the college's decision to deny if they deem them unworthy. If it were a prestiege college, interviews would have also weeded them out.
But this just sounds unrealistic...
