I live in San Jose and there seems to be a stereotype about SJSU that it's not a good school because anyone can be accepted. Almost everyone has the mindset to go to a UC or a different CSU, but I don't understand why people consider SJSU bad. I know it depends on what your major is, but I hear that the engineering program there is starting to pick up and is doing well. If there are any SJSU graduates reading this, did you have any problems finding a career after graduating. It seems that people from SJSU would not be competitive against other applicants such as someone from a UC or a "better" CSU. I'm asking all this because I might be attending SJSU.

I found lots of sites which say that becomming an orthopedic surgeon takes around 14 years. But I need to know how long will it take if I want to just become an orthopedic doctor and NOT a surgeon. Thanks for your help! =)

Is there anyone doing any Science courses from the O.U.? Thinking of doing the Discovering Science certificate.(S103) However, as it has been a few years since I have studied I was planning on doing an openings course first. Would Introducing Environment (Y161) or Introducing Astronomy (S194) be a good choice? Also what kind of carreer would this lead to? Any advice on O.U. courses welcome. Thanks!

for my college education, i was thinking of first going to a university (i dont want to go to a community) that i want to go to, not for the prestige or programs for my major (well i have a few in mind, which are all science related but im not exactly sure yet). ill do that for 2 years and then once i declare a major, eaither i stay there if they have classes for my major or i transfer to another school (a bit more prestigous) for my major to get my bachelors. is this a good idea or is it too complicated?

i would love to go to a top ranked university straight off, but unfortunately im not doing well enough in high school to go straight in (3.8 gpa average, with honors classes)

what do you suggest?

thank you!! :)

im very excited for college!

i have an teacher at my university who is a graduate student teaching in the english dept. this person has stated that we should call her "professor ----, or ms. ------ just not [by her first name]". i have noticed other students have titled her as professor on their papers, and today while using an example she said "..just because i am professor and you are students....." [just making an example for a discussion in class]. i do not think she should be passing herself off as a professor, just looking for other opinions, and wondering if i should say something?
