US News & World Report's tends to categorize schools by "Highly Selective" or "Selective." Look at the Princeton Review web site for better information on what it takes to get in. They report the percent in the top 10% of their classes and the 75th percentile for SAT scores. It will give you a more clear answer to what schools are looking for.

I would guess it means that you have more things going for you than against you as the selection process goes..
