I dunno if it's snobbery, but yeah, people will always ask what school you went to, not what your GPA was. Going to the best one that accepts you is generally good advice in the area of law (in the US).

For me, the top law schools would be Yale, Harvard, Stanford, Berkeley, and NYU (Columbia is right there with NYU, I just prefer NYU over it all the time for some strange reason).

I once heard--and it sounded wise--someone say, go to the best law school which will admit you; lawyers are snobs, and 20 years from now, you will have paid off your student loan, but they will still be asking where you sent to law school. Having said that, there is very little difference between top schools. You might want to consider: University of Virginia; Yale; University of Texas; Harvard; Cornell, Boalt Hall (Berkeley); UCLA. Apply to at least one that you are pretty sure will accept you, some of these are pretty intense.
