I will be graduating with a 2.8 GPA in mechanical engineering from the 10th best ranked program in the nation.

I'm slightly worried about my job prospects because of the GPA, and I'm not sure how to approach the issue.

I've done well on most of my tests, and conceptually I'd say I'm on track with any 3.5'er out there. I'd miss or slack off on homeworks and study really hard right before a test. Most engineers say all they did was study in college, but I had lots of fun and never found it too overwhelming. I never went to office hours or many lectures for that matter (I couldn't tell the difference *conceptually* between a lecture and the book). I have always found the GPA to be an inaccurate barometer for understanding of college material, but unfortunately I guess the employers need something.

When there is something useful being done (a project, a paying job) I do my best and do it well.

Is it better to tell them the truth or pretend I worked hard and came up short?

I am a Business major, but always wanted to write for my occupation. If you are a writer, or consider yourself to be one, preferably concentrating in area of novels or short stories, please tell me if creative writing classes and workshops actually help with one's writing, or does being a good writer depend more on personal experience and passion? I am unsure of whether I should change my major to creative writing, or just take a few courses in it and rely on personal experience to guide me to better writing.

Communication stems from a desire to know and a decision to tell. Do you feel you should share everything about yourself (including sexual history, desires, and fantasies) with a partner or spouse? What are some of the concerns with doing this? How might you prepare to tell your spouse or partner something difficult?

I just got into graduate school this year, and each week i have to read at least 500 pages for just 1 class. There are 3 classes, plus teaching as a teaching assistant and grading my student's papers. I am working very hard, but i still struggle a bit. Do anyone have suggestion for how to read quickly while getting the main points out of the text?

thank you!

All right...there's this kid "Joe" here at college...he's always had this superior attitude like he's better than everyone...our school is 99.99% black, and lots of the students come from low-income families....

So Joe sends me a message on myspace asking me who "Rodney" is (a gay friend of mine who lives in MO. We lost contact for ten years and just now got back in touch) Joe saw his picture on I thought he was making fun of Rodney, so I tell Joe that he shouldn't be making fun of gay people or anybody at all... so Joe goes, "I wasn't trying to be funny...I thought he was cute...I'm bisexual, but please don't tell anybody."

Now I'm straight...and I have about 7 gay friends...but I'm not sure if Joe is trying to play a trick on me or if he really is bi...we don't even talk that much...I think it's weird that he'd come out to me....what should I do? Is he playing a trick on me, or is he serious?

Because I could not stop for Death –
He kindly stopped for me –
The Carriage held but just Ourselves –
And Immortality.

We slowly drove – He knew no haste
And I had put away
My labor and my leisure too,
For His Civility –

We passed the School, where Children strove
At Recess – in the Ring –
We passed the Fields of Gazing Grain –
We passed the Setting Sun –

Or rather – He passed us –
The Dews drew quivering and chill –
For only Gossamer, my Gown –
My Tippet – only Tulle –

We paused before a House that seemed
A Swelling of the Ground –
The Roof was scarcely visible –
The Cornice – in the Ground –

Since then – 'tis Centuries – and yet
Feels shorter than the Day
I first surmised the Horses' Heads
Were toward Eternity –
