In addition to the ones above, they can tell from the fossilized seeds, the waste products, and the permanence of the settlements. Simply put, non-agricultural societies are much more nomadic and don't build many permanent settlements.

They can also tell from plant remains in or near the cooking places, how much grain/plants they ate, and the kind and the amounts would indicate farming. There are people who do that as their major career.

Crude tools like plows, cooking utensils, teeth remains(particular grinding patterns will occur when exposed to certain foods), pottery.
