Of course--colleges consider your cumulative GPA for 9-12 grades.

Colleges only care about your cummulative GPA over all 4 years of high school.

But remember, 9th counts as a fourth of that number. So, yes, better to keep it up now, but your 9th grade GPA alone doesn't matter.

To get into the top schools, you will likely have to have 3.0 or better and even then you should get a much better grade if you want to compete with all the applicants.

Check out the schools you want to go to online to see what their requirements are.

You should always do your best. If you're attending a Senior High (10-12) I don't believe they'll look at your 9th grade GPA, but by learning the material presented in your class, you'll be gaining the base knowledge for your 10-12 classes and your college classes. Not a good time to slack!

I've been a guidance counselor for many years. 9th grade will not destroy opportunities if you flounder, but it is important. Your GPA starts in 9th grade and follows you through your senior year. It is harder to compensate for a poor freshman year, and you end up fighting the next three years. On the other hand, when your transcript is sent, if your 9th grade marks are weak, but the following years are stronger, it shows a maturing process. Finally, philosophically, every day and year that you are alive is as important as you decide to make it! If you're healthy, content, and doing your best, then you're doing fine. God Bless you!

I would imagine so. Your classes that you take freshman year affect how you do in other courses throughout high school. Me, for example, slacked off a little in 9th grade math because I thoguht it would be easy. Now, I'm struggling my senior year and hoping even to get in a bearly known school.

Yes,
The Valevictorian (sp?) and Saluatorian (sp?) grades went all the way back to 9th grade to see who would get which place in class.

It was that close.
So yes, 9th grade is important.

Yeah.
Senior year is most important, but all of your high school years are taken into account for.
