As happens anywhere, the quality of life in Tanzania varies drastically from the relatively lavish homes of the wealthy to the mud & grass huts of subsistence farmers. The government does a good job of providing medical care & getting food to where it's needed, but it may be a long journey from the "bush" to where these services are provided.
Families in villages often survive on less than $1 (USD) per day; living without running water or electricity. However, even in villages, those with the means can have some degree of water or electricity in the home. Floors can be dirt or cement(not much carpet there), again depending on cashflow. A roof can be thatch, tile or tin.
In most areas, the children wear uniforms for school. Shorts or pants for the boys, skirts for the girls; a blouse & a sweater. Socks and shoes are also often part of the uniform. Primary school is provided free of charge by the government & scholarships are available to some for further study (Secondary School; Teachers' College; University; etc.).

I could go on forever about life in Tanzania. It's not that different from life anywhere else. The same inconsistencies exist & the division between wealthy & not-so wealthy is a little more obvious.
