I am a Senior in high school, and naturally it is time for me to apply to colleges, and of course, I am considering the Ivy League schools as options

First off, out of all the Ivy League schools, which are the most difficult to get into (i.e. have the strictest requirements) and which of those are relatively easier?

Also, what would you say are some good alternatives to Ivy League schools? I've been considering NYU and Johns Hopkins as examples, and wanted to know if there are others.

Finally, this doesn't specifically apply to Ivy League schools, but for Colleges in general, do they see your Senior term grades (perhaps for first term?)

Thanks for your help.

What is happening to America? People just can't seem to spell simple words. Don't know the difference between their and there or you're and your and it just gets on my nerves. Are we a country of illiterates? Who's teaching our kids at school? Just reading most of the questions from this medium I can tell whether you're smart or stupid. So please, you people who could not spell or speak well do me a favor and go back to school.

I mean what is a grade, what does it really mean? Isn't possible for a person who did poorly in school be more successful than a person who is an honor roll student? With that being said, Why do we even bother? How often are you solving algebra equations in your job?

I'm going into my senior year this year. I'm kinda worried cuz I'll be working part time as well as taking 6 AP-type courses, being involved in extra curriculars, and applying for colleges. Any advice on how to handle it all and still have fun? Do I need to get really good grades or should I just have fun and get decent grades? any advice is great. Thnx!

I'd like to go to either Yale or Columbia as an English major. I need help improving my stats, any help would be great.
-I'll have taken about 11 AP courses by senior year (including foreign language and two cores on the internet). I'm ranked 1st out of 550, and I hope to earn 3 academic letters in high school.
-I joined J.V Tennis (which means I'll be in it for 2 years during high school), have been in Key Club as Secretary for 2 years (hopefully Vice Pres. the 3rd year), newspaper columnist at school for 2 years, and National Honor Society for 2 years.
-If it helps: I was born in Seattle, and I don't have much travel experience except for up and down the west coast. My parents are from the Middle East, so I'm considered Caucasian.
-Extra: I learned to speak English only about two years after I learned Farsi. I know these two languages, and my AP exam will hopefully prove me as fluent in Spanish. My community service hours are about 25 by semester, but even with all this, I haven’t really done anything special over the summer.

I know this was long, but do you have ANY suggestions? Thanks!

For a prospective student, please answer as many of these as you care to, and share any other insights:

What did you like and dislike about your school?
Where are you from originally?
Why did you apply?
Are you very much in debt?
Were there many opportunities for internships?
Do you feel you have a useful degree?

Also, is your school "diverse?"
How many blacks would you say attend?
Is there ethnic clique-ing?
Do you go into Boston a lot?
How are the dorms...really?

Thanks so much!

Hello, well, thanks for helping out.

Anyway, I'm going to start college very soon, and I'm wondering what would be the best for college: A tote bag, a messenger bag, or a regular backpack. Oh, I also have a laptop, so how can I manage to carry everything the best way?

Thank you so much for your time!

I graduate high school in 95 and never had a chemistry class. I love Biology but math by far is my worst subject. I have approx. 3 sem. left then I can transfer to a 4 yr. univ. for PreMed.
My advisor signed me up for Chemistry 111 (which he also is the instructor) I told him all the above when I signed up. Well, our first class was yesterday and 10 min. into it he plops down a 4 page fill in the blank test which does count as a grade. Well Of course...I am feeling soooo stupid. I found out there is a pre chemistry class but does not count as a credit for transfer , its just I guess for preperation.
Should I drop this chem class and sign up for the other one that will set me back a semester....or
should I push and try to crash course myself? Is there any online stuff...I checked out www.chem4kids.com , would that kind of sight give me enough info to keep on...I have till Monday morning to decide!!!! Help ...please!

I'm not looking for-profit institutions like Uni of PHoenix, or so forth.

It has to have an easy enrollment process, and the online degree must be 100% online, preferablly in business..HELP
