Higher Education (University +) - August 2006

I have lived in Illinois my whole life with my mother, but my mom also owns a lake house in Delavan,WI, which she pays full taxes for and all that blahblah...I want to transfer to University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. MY question is..is there a way I can get in-state tuition..by either taking to the university, or just trying to get away with it??? Any advice is great, thanks!

im a highschool senior, just wondering about college majors. i like children i was thinking teaching, but i also am thinking about something like secretary work, i like organization, paperwork and repeditive things like that. im torn between the two, but i would like something that would keep me well finacially. please if you have websites or opinions let me know!

My first semester of college already started and im living at home and commuting everyday to class. But my friends are staying in dorms and i think i made the mistake of commuting. Dorming seems so much funner and i really want to do it. But my parents are against me dorming but how can i convince them to let me dorm? I want to stay with one of my close friends whos also dorming next semester and my parents really like him to, but i dont know how to approach my parents. please help...

You see, my counselor enrolled me in a regular U.S history class because AP history wouldn't fit into my schedule. He said that if I really wanted to, I could take it on my county's online high school during 7th period (when I'm supposed to be taking regular U.S History). I was wondering if any/all of the aforementioned schools would look down upon me taking a core AP subject over virtual high school (it is pretty much distance education over the internet). Please tell me what you think; I love all of these schools and would like to go to one!

Hello friends,

I was wondering if you had any advice or knowledge on what degree or major I might want to look into if I want to come out of school (2-year or 4-year institution) and get a career making a decent amount of money, in my opinion $25k-30k is decent.

Not calculating taxes or any of that, I figured that if I had a minimum-wage job, let's just say on average about $6/hour, I could work 40 hours a week for 52 weeks in a year, so it comes out to around $12k a year. That's barely enough to support yourself, let alone start a family.

I'll go talk to a college career counselor soon, but in the meantime I was wondering if you knew of any jobs or occupations that you could get with a specific college degree that made a decent amount of money, where you could support yourself and start a family, maybe like $25k-30k a year. I also put non-competitive in there because reasonably I know it's hard to get a lucrative career like becoming a doctor.

Could going to get a masters recieving a good GPA make me better qualified to get in law or medical school. Plus the fact that I am female and minority work in my favor? I plan after the masters then trying to apply. Aboutmy undergrad, I transferred in a decieded after my junior year sociology wasn't what I thought it was going to be and I am not doing so well. I also have the same professors over and over for differnet classes, the college is small, and not very diverse so you are well known by the professors.

Right... well i absolutly love physics.. and am incredibly artistic and extremely creative ( i know i sound really self centered but wen it comes to creativity its true)
I want to major in something that is demanded in society today, and will pay well and isnt available in tons out there...
When working alone i usually achieve more than when working in a group, since i get to concentrate more, but i also enjoy group work very much.
Im also a math freak, especially when it comes to geometry.
I love the idea of working from my heart, and im desprately trying to find something i would enjoy doing, yet would make my parents proud of me...
