TEN RULES OF COLLEGE!
1) Remember that a cumulative GPA is much like a house. It needs a strong foundation to flourish and live. STUDY! STUDY! STUDY! during your first year so you can build a foundation of concrete instead of quicksand!
2) Manage your time effectively. Avoid waiting to the last minute on case studies, projects, and studying for major exams.
3) You pay too much tuition for the professor NOT to know your first name --> go to the professor's office hours.
4) Get a college work-study job in the Computer Lab -- you can do homework when you aren't helping others and STILL get paid!
5) DO NOT become addicted to credit cards!
6) DO NOT overload yourself with 21 credit hours, but instead get a balanced schedule!
7) Learn how to do laundry BEFORE you leave for college.
8) Get to know the DIRECTOR of Financial Aid -- hold your friends close, and your enemies even closer!
9) Get to know the DEAN of your school -- makes for great references for jobs and such.
10) You are in college to learn NOT to make a baby! You have been warned.

The biggest piece of advice i can give you is to go to class!! I mean every class. Don't take 8am classes, cause you wont go. The party the night before was just too much fun. Get a facebook account from facebook.com. You can meet people easily this way. Meet all the people you can, and get as many names and numbers as possible. You can form study groups and friendships this way. Hang out at the cafeteria, another easy way to meet people. Go to a big school because there are more people to meet tht might be like you. I go to a small school, and no one is like me. If you get invited to a party go, but dont drink the first time. Gives a good impression as well as nothing bad can happen like something getting put in your drink. Be safe!! Have campus police number in your phone. Call if you get scared or need an escort late at night to your car. Try to not look better than everyone else, i.e. dress better or fix up more. Look nice on the first couple of days and then let it go. This can be very intimidating to people. Keep in touch with your friends from High School as well as your parents. They will probably always be there for you, especially when you feel discouraged or down. Last but not least, HAVE FUN!!! These are the times of your life. Live them to the fullest!! Good Luck!!

Try to study as if your life depends on it. It's going to be hard to do because college is a lot of fun. But, a good grade will open up a lot of doors for you if you want to get a good job or go to grad school. So, in a way, the quality of your life after college will depend on how much you study during college. Do you want to drive those expensive cars and buy a house after graduation or do you want to drive your current car and live in an apartment for another 10 years?

Professionally: Ask yourself what you'd like to be doing in the future, and take courses that are related to that field. This will also help to reaffirm your decision to pursue the field, or help you change your mind. If your answer is that you're not sure at the moment what you'd like to be doing, then take the GE (General Education) courses to see what your likes and dislikes are.
Personally: Enjoy yourself; relish this unique experience to learn about yourself, others, and the relationships you'll enjoy.
Have a blast!
