It is just too early for teenage minds to function properly. As a teenager, I get 6 or 7 hours of sleep, but I fell so sleepy during school days.
High schools must start kinda late, and I really want to know your opinions!

I saved my whole life to go to college. I got into a second-tier school with good aid (at the bottom of the second-tier of US News and World Reports annual list, that is).

My school feels like a glorified high school to me (though I never went to HS). The kids are dumb--I mean DUMB. Nobody talks, and on the rare occasion they do it's the most inane BS you can imagine. I can't believe these people are in their late teens/early 20's--they act like they're 12.

The faculty memebers are not all-stars by any stretch--a roster of two-bit academics with minor publishing credits and no teaching chops to speak of. I've been "taught" by a number of adjuncts who frankly have no business in a class room.

I'm entering my junior year, and I'm starting to think I've wasted a lot of money and time. I do enjoy the work, but I hate the people and find them all inept....

I went to school to be an elementary school teacher. I found that it was not a fit for me. My passion is helping those who need help. I want to be a Guidance Counselor (grade, middle or high school- ideally College level), and know what is needed to get there, BUT- my GPA when I rec'd my BA in Liberal Studies was under 2.89 and it was 6 years ago. I am not working in the field, or even a related field.
My questions are: (1) Is 6 years too long to go back to school?
(2) What would the possibiliy be of being accepted to a Grad program given my BA for teaching (no credential) and low GPA @ graduation?
(3) Should I go back Grad school for a Master's in Business Administration Management, which would help me in my present career, which is not my passion?

I was reading the 2004 Guinness Book of World Records, and on page 22 (for those of you who have it) and on the bottom left it reads "Most hot dogs eaten in three minutes... Peter Dowdeswell ate four hot dogs (sausages and buns) in three minutes as part of the Wimpy National Hot dog Championships".

How can this be true when people eat 60+ in 12 minutes?

THE WATCH------THERE UNNOTICED FOR SEVERAL DAYS BEFORE I FOUND IT.
1/ had laid
2/ had lain
3/ has been laying
4/ had been laid
I chose 4/had been laid, because I thought somebody put it (laid) it there before the past action FOUND, so if I express it in a passive pattern, should be had been laid. Am I right?

Flipping through some of the questions on here, I notice a lot of people either can't spell, or use the wrong word.
There is a difference between your and you're.
What happened to English in school?
Not to mention a spell checker right above the subject line.

This generation revolves around materialistic objects. On numerous occasions, individuals claim that they simply cannot function without items such as their brand name clothing, cars, phone, mp3 player, etc. As human’s we have the urge or desire to purchase what we feel to be valuable is connected to the idea that it makes us feel complete. A great example that showcases this would be skateboarding. While skateboarding is known to be one of the most dangerous, difficult and rewarding sport that exists many people, specifically adolescents think of it as a fashion statement.
The reason why many adolescent think about it as a fashion statement is because they think that they are representing a certain category. But the funny thing is that you can tell when someone is passionate about Skateboarding and when they’re not. Many people think that just by kids carrying a skateboard there considered skaters. That’s not true though. There are many things to look for when you are trying to see what the person thinks of themselves or they want people to think. For instance you can see the way they put their pants, shoes, shirts and the way they carry their board. If you see a guy with a board and he’s wearing DCTM shoes and a VolcomTM shirt then you know what the person is into. They are obviously into all the novice skaters, and they have barely started skating. Another evidence would be the way they carry their board, if they are holding the trucks and the board is facing the long side then the person that is carrying it doesn’t know anything about skateboarding. But if they are carrying their board to the side and not holding the trucks then they know their stuff. It’s something to look for when you are trying to determine a REAL skater.
