Please avoid spilling things in the bowl because the person sitting next to you will be using it. (If you're talking about being at a table)
Please keep the toilet seat clean, wipe up after yourself and leave it clean for the next person. (If you're talking about keeping a toilet clean)

How does this sound: When using a public toilet, please avoid spilling on the seat as the person after you will have to use it. If you do have an accident, then be courteous and wipe it off.
